Yesterday, an international seminar on linking the Bologna and Lisbon strategies, concluded in Ljubljana. The seminar was organised by the ESIB - National Unions of Students in Europe, and Student Organisation of Slovenia (SOS) which is also one of the partners with Slovenian Winter Universiade 2011 bid.
The 4-day ESIB Bologna-Lisbon Training seminar was mainly intended to join the two reform processes - the Bologna Process and the Lisbon Strategy. One of the main conclusions was the lack of student involvement in forming the guidelines of the Lisbon Strategy, and the insuficcient, or wrong implementation of the both processes into national systems.
Such ESIB seminars are also intended to keep the students up-to-date with events on European level, and information exchange on reforms in various countries. Parralel to the seminar, several wirkshops were held on keeping the higher education on a quality level, forming an European framework, introducing tuition fees, mobility, employment of the graduates, equality in higher education, and running institutions of higher education.
The Ljubljana seminar was also an opportunity for the President of SOS Mrs Sasa Albreht, the President of ESIB Mr Justin Fenech, and SUSA Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik to meet and discuss the Winter Universiade Maribor 2011 with emphasis on inclusion of European students into this large student sports project.
