Slovenian University Sports Association (SUSA) will host a 6-member FISU commission in Maribor between April 14 and 16. The delegation will evaluate readiness and capacities of Maribor, Ruše and Rogla to organise the 26th Winter universiade in 2013. "Even though we are the only candidate, we haven't been attributed the universiade yet. In the upcoming days we have an important technical inspection of the locations, on the basis which FISU will decide about organising uiversiade 2013 in Maribor," said prof. dr. Otmar Kugovnik, SUSA President.
FISU delegates will be presented the concept of the Winter universiade 2013 Maribor. Between April 14 and 16, they will get briefed about the project, and will visit the competition venues. "Maribor, in cooperation with surrounding Ruše ad Zreče, has great chances for attribution of the winter universiade in 2013. Not just because we are the sole candidate, but because we meet all the required demands and criteria. We have left behind last year's disappointment from Turin. We will focus all our energy and attention to the FISU Evaluation visit, and make sure they leave Maribor satisfied," added Kugovnik.
During the time of the visit, the FISU delegation will be received by the mayors of Maribor, Ruše, Zreče and the Rector of the University of Maribor. Among other activities, FISU delegates will attend the training of the national ice hockey team which is training for the upcoming World championship in Canada.
