Slovenia has hosted another World University Championship in 2008 - this time in Futsal. Between August 24 and 31, the 11th World University Futsal Championship took place in Koper. The event hosted 16 student teams from different parts of the world, among them also the team of the hosting country Slovenia.
The champions - first time in history of WUC - became Portuguese who beat the team of Ukraine in the dramatic finales. Slovenia placed on a high, but at the same time ungrateful 4th place.

The competitions were held on a top level with excellent conditions which the organisers - Slovenian University Sports Association, in cooperation with the Football Association of Slovenia and support of the Municipality of Koper and our partners University Sports Federation of Primorska, Student organisation of the University of Primorska and the University of Primorska. A special thanks goes also to our volunteers and sponsors; mostly our largest ones Radenska and Adriatic Slovenica.
The women's event is to take place in Vitoria, Brazil September 7-13, 2008. The next WUC Futsal is scheduled to take place in Novi Sad, Serbia in 2010.
